A BALLAD OF LONNI DIDDY

from HAUNTING MEMORIES [Digitally Remastered] by The Santairs

/

about

I met a girl named Lonni Diddy back when I was a teenager. She was very pretty but what got my attention was her name. It was so poetic and different that I felt compelled to write a song with her name. I knew nothing about her except the one and only first impression I had upon meeting her. I never saw her again. However, she did live in a house that was unique compared to the other houses in the neighborhood. I had a chance to buy it two different times when I became an adult, and almost pulled the trigger once, but decided to stay where I was at at that time.

This is song #457.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

LONNI DIDDY, FORGIVE ME. I DIDN'T MEAN TO HURT YOU, HONESTLY.
I CAUGHT YOU WITH ANOTHER MAN, AND FRANKLY, I JUST DIDN'T UNDERSTAND.

THAT FATEFUL DAY YOU SAID GOODBYE.
I FOUND YOU WITH ANOTHER GUY,
AND A TEAR RAN DOWN MY EYE.
I TRUSTED YOU THOSE TIMES BEFORE.
MY MIND WAS HURT. MY HEART WAS SORE,
BUT NOW YOU'RE GONE FOREVER MORE.

LONNI DIDDY, FORGIVE ME. DID YOU MEAN TO HURT ME, HONESTLY?
I CAUGHT YOU WITH ANOTHER MAN, BUT FRANKLY, I JUST DIDN'T UNDERSTAND.

YOU TOLD ME ONCE, “DON'T YOU GET MAD!”
THAT FAITH IN YOU, I SHOULD HAVE HAD,
THIS TIME, I'M FEELING WAY TOO SAD.
I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN YOU TWO WERE FRIENDS,
WHILE YOU USED ME TO PRETEND,
AND NOW I'M PAYING IN THE END.

LONNI DIDDY, FORGIVE ME. I DIDN'T MEAN TO HURT YOU, HONESTLY.
I CAUGHT YOU WITH ANOTHER MAN AND FRANKLY, I JUST DIDN'T UNDERSTAND.

HE WAS A LUST FROM YOUR PAST,
A SYCOPHANT—IT COULDN'T LAST.
AND NOW, I FEEL AN OUTCAST.

LONNI DIDDY, FORGIVE ME. DID YOU MEAN TO HURT ME, HONESTLY?
I CAUGHT YOU WITH ANOTHER MAN AND FRANKLY, I JUST DIDN'T UNDERSTAND,
NOW I CAN.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
