about

This was just me and Sean writing this song after listening to some Bob Dylan stuff. I think he wrote the music and a few lyrics while I wrote the rest of it. (NOTE: During the harmonica solo, you can hear a loud crack nearly halfway through it. I have TMJ and that was my jaw cracking back into place. During the actual recording, you could barely hear it, but for the final mix, I decided to amplfy it as loudly as possible as a joke.)

This is song #421.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

I LOOK AT A WALL. THERE'S NOTHIN' AT ALL, NOTHIN' MORE I CAN FIND.
THAT WHICH I SEE IS HELD WITHIN ME; A PROJECTION OF MIND.
AND I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND.
I TRIED IT BEFORE. I DON'T WANT ANYMORE OF THIS LAND.

I STARTED TO LIVE. I WANTED TO GIVE, BUT I CAN'T SEE THE LIGHT.
I STOPPED AT A DOOR AND FELL TO THE FLOOR. THIS JUST CANNOT BE RIGHT.
BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE TELLIN' ME, OH MAN.
YOU LIVE IN THIS PLACE, A DRUG FILLED DISGRACE.

I KNOW I SAW THE START OF IT ALL, YET SOON IT MUST END.
WE SEEM TO DIE WITH LIES IN OUR EYES. WE JUST CAN'T PRETEND,
'CAUSE I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHEN YOU GIVE ME A HAND.
I CANNOT TRULY BE WHAT I BE.
(SOLO)
I DREAM OF A DREAM THAT I STARTED TO DREAM, LETTIN' GO OF MY HATE.
I DRIFT TO THE SKY, FLYIN' SO HIGH TO CONTEMPLATE.
YET I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY I LIVE ON THIS SAND.
WE CALL THIS EARTH, A PLACE OF OUR BIRTH.

THE BIRDS OF A SONG TELLS ME I'M WRONG. I SHOULD NOT THINK SO BAD.
THEY TELL OF THE GOOD JUST LIKE IT WOULD, IF THIS WASN'T SO SAD.
FOR I DON'T UNDERSTAND LIFE ISN'T SO GRAND,
BUT I KNOW WHAT IT'S FOR; TO OPEN NEW DOORS.

OUR LIVES ARE IN DANGER, INVADED BY STRANGERS, BUT THERE IS A NEW HOPE.
HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH AND LET IT FLY BY. YOU'LL BE ABLE TO COPE.
AND I DO UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU UNDERSTAND.
BORN TO A JOY, DIE IN A VOID.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
