This song was recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle by legendary engineer, Kearney Barton (who recorded The Kingsmen "Jolly Green Giant" of "Louie, Louie" fame, The Sonics "Psycho", The Frantics "Werewolf", and many others.) It was an 8 track analog studio, recorded onto 1 inch reel tape.  
This song featured Wayde Brown (me) on lead and backing vocals and a 6 string electric and 12 string electric guitars, Sean Crain on bass and backing vocals, and Bill Fletcher on drums. We were called The Santairs and this was our last recording together as that group back in 1991. This song was picked up by Rockit Records, Inc and published by Bad Grammar Music (BMI). It was released on a compilation C.D. Album called "Prelude to Power Volume #4" in 1992. We had to record this song quickly and send it off since we were on a "time" budget. I was never happy with the song that was released. The song sped up in several places and it felt like it was flying away. With the Audacity program I am using, I was able to change the speed of the song. It's not totally in time, but it's much closer now and I'm able to listen to it without cringing.
To finish off this particular mix, I had to convert it from a cassette format (which was the only format I had this in) onto the Audacity program on my computer with a JVC TD-W254 Double Cassette Deck 3 motor Silent Mechanism.
This is song #277 on the list of songs written. I was listening to a lot of Beatles music at this time and felt compelled to write a song with 3 part harmonies, but I only had two singers in the group, so it left me to do two parts, which was difficult since I hadn't had any experience at triad singing at that time. This song only took a couple hours to write, but I never liked the title. It's one of those songs I just wrote without thinking what it was going to be about. And then when I finished it, I still had no idea what it was about. So, I copped out and just called it "The Ballad" with "I, You, And We" as a subtitle since those are the words that start each verse. This was the first song I wrote on a 12-string guitar. The inspiration of the song was originally about the break-up with a girlfriend, and one of the last words she said to me was, “You’re too blind to see.”
