about

This song was recorded at my father's behest before the group CRIME SCENE (first) split up, though officially, we didn’t call ourselves “Crime Scene” during this recording. Back in 2006, we went back to Mirror Sound Studio and had Ken Fordyce record the song. We performed it pretty much live, the way my father wanted, with only a few overdubs, like the vocals and one guitar filler lick that my father put in. This song was originally released in 1990 by The Santairs for their “Sleeping in Dreams” album, though it was a basic stripped down version.
The players: Wayde Brown (me) on lead vocals, tambourine, and guitar; Jay Munger on guitar; Mark Hasbrook on backing vocal; Nick Wilcox on keyboard; Paul Kollman on drums; and Clinton Brown (my father) on bass.
This is the 108th song I wrote. I wrote it because my father said it's his favorite style of music and that I hadn't written in that genre yet. So, out it came. I was thinking on how Elvis would do rhythm and blues, and this is the result. I was also influenced by songs from The Animals as well. I remember the one other request my father had concerning the lead vocal, is that it had to have a “kick” to it during the choruses. So, I added that to it as well. I remember performing this live for the first time at the age of 16 and people went crazy at the pub we were in. It featured me on vocals and guitar, and my friend Sean Crain on bass with a guest drummer performed this song for the first time. At my home studio, I double tracked the lead vocal to help further strengthen the sound.

Recorded at Mirror Sound Studio in Shoreline, WA. and The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

I've Had Those Times When I Feel So Good,
But There Are Times I Don't Feel Like I Should.
I've Got Those Blues, Lovesick Blues Over You.

I Had A Girl Who Looked So Fine.
I Had A Girl And I Wish She Were Mine.
I've Got Those Blues, Lovesick Blues, Mm, Over You.

To Feel This Way Is A Thing Of The Past.
When Will I Be Over You?
Now How Long Can This Feeling Last,
The Feeling Of Loving You?

I've Had Bad Times When I Feel So Sad.
I've Had Some Times When I Feel So Bad.
I've Got Those Blues, Oho, Lovesick Blues Mm Over You. All Right!
(Solo)
I've Had Good Times I'll Never Forget,
But These Bad Times Are Not Over Yet.
I've Got Those Blues, Aho, Lovesick Blues Over You.

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
